Crock Pot Party Beans - Recipes That Crock! (2)

Growing up Mom would put a pot of beans like this in the crock pot and let it cook all day when we had company over. It was always one of those great dishes that you could “snack” on all day long when you got hungry. The beans make for a very filling bowl full of yumminess — especially during the winter months! So, when I saw this recipe in Gooseberry Patch’s Slow-Cooker Fall Favorites,I knew I had to give it a try. It was a little different from Mom’s recipe but it brought back all those old memories of a big bowl full after a big day sledding with family friends.

I love the variety of beans this dish uses. From kidney beans to black eyed peas, there are all kinds of beans andall kinds of flavor and fiber. Don’t like a certain kind of bean? Switch it out for one you do. Red and green bell peppers and onions round out the dish in a sweet but subtle homemade barbecue sauce. Make sure you keep the recipe handy! Folks will be asking you for it ;).
